Description
Fresh blueberries (Vaccinium spp.) are deeply pigmented berries especially rich in anthocyanins, the polyphenols responsible for their blue-purple color and many of their distinctive biological effects. They also provide fiber, manganese, pectin, and other polyphenols, including quercetin and chlorogenic acid. Human research has shown that regular blueberry consumption can support vascular function, healthy blood pressure, glucose regulation, and aspects of cognitive function. Their naturally sweet flavor and tender texture make blueberries easy to enjoy in breakfasts, smoothies, salads, snacks, baked goods, and desserts.
