Christmas Kale Salad

I wanted to share this festive holiday kale salad with you, a flavorful dish that’s perfect for potlucks and seasonal gatherings. The combination of orange zest and juice, warm cinnamon, toasted pecans, and dried cranberries creates a bright yet grounding balance that feels especially fitting this time of year. It’s one of those salads that tends to disappear quickly; my children happily eat it by the bowlful, especially savoring the crunchy pecans and tender, well-marinated kale. You may have noticed that I’ve been quieter here over the past several months. Last spring, we signed a book deal with a publisher. Since then, I’ve been immersed in writing and meeting a full schedule of deadlines, which has pulled my attention away from the blog. I’ll be sharing more about the upcoming books soon.

Well—my 8-year-old thinks they're just okay, and the littlest one prefers to nibble on the pâté and cucumber strips, but the rest of the gang devours them with delight.

Wild Rice, Kale, and Cranberry Pilaf

There’s something so grounding about a warm winter pilaf—the way the grains softly steam, the greens wilt just enough, and those little pops of cranberry brighten every bite. This one has been a favorite in my kitchen for years. It’s hearty, deeply nourishing, and full of the vibrant plant compounds we naturally crave during the colder months. This pilaf makes a beautiful addition to any holiday table, and it also works wonderfully as a gluten-free stuffing for turkey or roasted vegetables. If you want an extra layer of richness, scatter in a handful of chopped, roasted hazelnuts just before serving. They bring such a lovely crunch.

Creamy Almond Kale Smoothie

If there was one thing you could do right now to improve your health would you do it? Eating raw cruciferous vegetables daily might be our saving grace in this increasingly toxic world. Cruciferous vegetables will upregulate or "produce" the enzymes your body needs to eliminate environmental toxins and properly metabolize estrogen.
