Nourishing the New Mom
I have a special place in my heart for this phase of life. This is where it all begins, in utero, and then during those first precious days and weeks spent nursing while gazing into your little miracle. Making milk is truly amazing.
Gluten-Free Rhubarb Muffins
Rhubarb is not difficult to come by during this season. In fact, you probably have neighbors or friends begging you to haul some away.
Spring Slaw
What a gorgeous day here in Bellingham! I think it hit 75 degrees, at least on our thermometer. It was a wonderful way to celebrate May Day. Our 4-year old daughter, Gracie, danced around the May Pole at her preschool celebration and made flower garlands.
Rice and Garbanzo Bean Salad with Kale
Today I have a very simple grain and bean salad recipe for you. Something you can easily whip up if you have leftover grains and beans. My children love this salad. Today I made it for Tom and packed it up for him to take on a two day trip to Seattle.
Spring Green Smoothie

Curried Carrot Cauliflower Soup
I created this soup today for lunch basically out of a craving for something healing and nourishing, while being warming and spicy all at the same time.
Gluten-Free Chocolate Brownie Cupcakes with Chocolate Ganache Frosting
You are in for a real treat today! The other night I had an early morning dream of these cupcakes with the recipe clearly spelled out for me. I was in sort of a lucid dream-like state and knew I needed to write it down.
Yellow Split Pea Dal
Well, we have been very busy lately. Hence the two-week gap in posting to the blog. Tom has been working for months now round the clock on a research paper entitled "Nutritional Deficiencies in Celiac Disease, is Supplementation Necessary?" He is just about done with it, and I am looking forward to reading it!
Sunflower Cookies
I received an email last weekend from someone who has our book and also has a toddler about the same age as our twin boys (who are 15 months now). She was asking about snacks to take on outings and play dates. I replied to her and mentioned the obvious for us: green smoothies, nori, rice cakes, fresh fruit.
