Shepherd’s Pie is traditionally made with ground lamb, vegetables, and a mashed potato topping. My version works well for the Elimination Diet as well as other diets such as a Nightshade-Free Diet (no potatoes or tomatoes in this recipe) and the Low-Histamine Diet. Use a Homemade Chicken Stock for best results! Serve with a green salad or a cabbage slaw for a balanced meal. 

Ingredients

Topping

2½ pounds white sweet potatoes peeled and chopped
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
½ teaspoons Herbamare

Filling

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 medium onions chopped
1½ pounds ground lamb
2 large carrots diced
3 celery stalks diced
1 teaspoons sea salt
2 teaspoons dried rosemary crushed
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1 tablespoons chopped fresh sage
2 cups chicken bone broth
1 tablespoons arrowroot powder
1 cups frozen peas
¼ cups chopped parsley
