This Middle Eastern lentil and rice stew is deeply flavored, warming, and perfect for a cozy winter meal.

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 large red onions diced
2 teaspoons sea salt
½ teaspoons black pepper
2 pinches cayenne pepper
1½ tablespoons baharat seasoning
5 cloves garlic crushed
1½ cups green lentils
¾ cups long grain brown rice
6 cups water
1 cups diced tomatoes
1 cups chopped parsley
