This smoothie recipe uses raw brazil nuts, hemp seeds, and chia seeds as the base—a protein and healthy fat-rich way to start your day. The brazil nuts provide an abundance of selenium—a mineral that can often be deficient in many people’s diets. Selenium is used in the body to make proteins necessary for detoxification, and for proper immune system function. We like to drink a big glass of this smoothie for breakfast or make it for our children as a bedtime snack. If you would like a sweeter smoothie, add one frozen banana.

¾ cups raw brazil nuts
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
2 tablespoons chia seeds
½ teaspoons raw vanilla powder
2 cups water
3 cups frozen blueberries
