Love your liver! This green smoothie is packed with detoxification-supporting vegetables and fruits! The sour fruits hide the strong sulfur flavors from the cruciferous vegetables. Raw cruciferous vegetables stimulate your cells to increase antioxidant and detoxification compounds. This helps to reduce systemic inflammation and support detoxification pathways. I like to add 1 to 2 scoops of a chelated magnesium powder to smoothies when I'm making them for my children. I take magnesium daily, however, it isn't always easy to get my children to take it! Hiding it in a smoothie is an easy way to get them this very important mineral. Magnesium is needed as a co-factor for numerous detoxification enzymes—without it, you cannot detoxify properly. This smoothie is also very high in vitamin C! Antioxidants are needed to quench free radicals that form during detoxification reactions in the body. Dark leafy greens are also high in natural folates! In order to support methylation, which is crucial to breaking down histamine in the body as well as removing environmental pollutants and metabolizing estrogen, you need folate, B12, B2, B6, magnesium, and zinc! Include this smoothie in your diet regularly, along with other detoxification supportive foods, to keep your body in peak condition.
